Driving is very simplified here, with a forward button and a reverse/brake button. You'll be doing plenty of driving throughout this game. These fights tend to be extremely easy, but most of the time you'll just want to hit them with your car instead, because it's more fun. The secret to successful hand-to-hand is really just learning when an opponent is about to get up and making sure your fist will meet their face as soon as they do. Most of the time this will be used to put a hurting on someone that you want to keep alive. He also has a shove button for a quick knockdown, but since he can't attack fallen enemies, it's not especially useful. By tapping the attack button without a gun drawn, Tony can execute simple combos. There are times when fists are needed, but they're rare. And keep in mind that a successful rampage in Blind Rage mode will fill your health back up, so use that strategically. Also, remember, if you need to fill your meter up in a hurry, you can get more than one taunt in on an enemy if you shoot enough to draw blood but not kill, taunt, shoot again, and follow it with another taunt. Our favorite is to back into a room, and let the enemies file in one by one so you can pop and then taunt. There are cheap ways to fill up your meter, too. The infinite ammo and no reload can be abused in a serious way with the Rocket Launcher and Missile Launcher.

The good news is that you'll be able to lock to multiple targets at once, your enemies will move in slow motion, you'll be invincible, your ammo will be unlimited, you'll never have to reload, and every enemy killed will give you 200 health points. During this mode, the screen will go red, the HUD will disappear, and you'll switch to a first person perspective. Blind Rage is extremely cheap, and will be key to your success. This will empty your Balls Meter, but won't effect your total Balls Points. When you fill your Balls Meter, you can execute Blind Rage mode by holding down the appropriate button (tapping it won't do anything). Doing this immediately after hitting an enemy (it doesn't matter if he dies) will result in a boost to you Balls Meter. You can also tap the Taunt Button, to throw out one of Tony's snappy lines. You get more balls for doing things this way, regardless of what weapon you use.

Some weapons don't have a lock-on and must be aimed manually with the right-analog stick (or mouse in the PC version). Use this to get headshots or take out nearby enemies. You will be able to fine tune your aim within the bounds of the box that appears on screen. You will automatically lock to the target you're aim is closest to, and you cannot cycle your lock. Most weapons will allow you to lock on to a target by holding the Lock Button.

Getting good at the combat will be the key to success more than anything else. Tony's most vital skill in his quest to rebuild his empire will be his ability to kill lots of people.
